Where Is Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa Ranch is on Oahu, the most populated island. If like me you managed to get a cheap flight to Hawaii then youll perhaps fly into Honolulu. The ranch is on the same island. Its about an hours drive from Honolulu, or Waikiki where we were staying. They do offer transfers for an additional cost, however we decided to take the day to drive around the island a bit in our own rental car.
If it werent for a rental car, I dont think wed have enjoyed Oahu as much as we did. We managed to get a cheap car rental at our hotel for our stay and it was a life saver. We booked our tour for mid afternoon so that we wouldnt be rushed to get there. Our day started with a drive up the middle of Oahu to the North Shore, exploring the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, before driving along the coast to Kualoa Ranch.

Owen Grady is back again to save us all from dinosaurs. And this time, he’s doing so all over the world. Thankfully, as the film’s trailer alludes, he’s getting a little help from a few old friends including Alan Grant , Dr. Ellie Sattler , and Dr. Ian Malcom .

Jurassic Park Filming Locations In Hawaii
There are plenty of locations in Hawaii that were used while filming the movie franchise. In the following list, well provide you with a brief overview of the most iconic locations there.
While you can visit many of these locations today, you should keep in mind that some of them are privately owned and may require permission from the owners:
Best Time To Visit Kualoa Ranch
Hawaii is a tropical state which means the weather generally warm the entire year. Theres only two weather seasons here, summer and winter. Summer, which falls in May to October, is the best time to visit Kualoa Ranch as the weather is dry and it rarely rains. The average temperature during the season is 29.4° C. If thats too much for you, winter would be more bearable but dont expect snow.
Winter in Hawaii is a bit different from the rest of the world. In fact, you would hardly see any snow unless you are 10,000 feet above sea level. Instead of snow, Hawaii gets a lot of rain during the season. If you like a watery adventure then you should visit Kualoa Ranch in winter!

Hawaii Convention Center Oahu
One of the locations that look almost the same as it was in the movie is the lobby of the Hilton Resort in Isla Nublar.
In fact, the escalator that the children took in the first few minutes of the Jurassic World movie is from the Hawaii Convention Center, not the Hilton Resort.
Although you can easily get in and take pictures similar to the one taken in the movie, you can still see the center through the glass walls if youre simply passing by, so you dont have to get in to add this one to your bucket list.
Secret Island Beach Adventure
It is no secret that Secret Island Beach has lots of fun adventures to offer. Although it is one of the most secluded beaches in Hawaii, it remains one of the favorites. It is an ideal place for people who are looking for peace of mind and extreme recreation, altogether.
Theres a bunch of water sports you can try here while enjoying the stunning views of Kaneohe Bay and the overlooking Mokolii island. You can enjoy a beach day of canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and more.
You have half of the day to explore everything that Secret Island Beach has to offer. But if its still not enough to achieve your suntan skin, you can opt for a full-day exploration with a relatively higher price.
Secret Island Beach Rates:Half-Day Tour: $47.95 Adult | $36.95 Child
Full-Day Tour: $89.95 Adult | $69.95 Child

Kualoa Ranch Utv Tour
Another new tour option, Kualoa Ranchs UTV tour is my recommendation if you have a family of up to 6. The UTVs are basically an ATV but for 2-6 people together! This way you chat, take photos, etc. together in one vehicle.
I havent done the UTV tour yet but as soon as I saw the UTVs while checking in for my e-bike tour I added it to my list. The minimum age for this is 5, which is perfect for next trip because my youngest niece is 4 at current time.
The Jurassic Park Sign And Tree
Our next stop was the one I had been waiting for. Im not ashamed to say I wore my Jurassic Park t-shirt especially for this day. Fan girl much?! The Jurassic Park sign was set up next to, in Uncle Leonards words, possibly the most famous dead tree in Hawaii. That would be the tree that Dr. Grant and the kids hide behind during the flocking of the Gallimimus dinosaurs when running from the T-Rex. Thats right, I know all the dinosaur names. Surely you cant be surprised at this.
Our tour guide was happy to take pictures of us together, and I took a dozen more. We also took the time to take pictures of the valley itself all around us. We didnt get rushed back onto the bus, and Uncle Leonard made sure everyone got their photos. Its weird to think that a movie sign could be the highlight of the day but if youre a movie fan like me, I think youll understand.

Kualoa Ranch Atv Tour
Another incredible and adventurous option is the Jurassic Park ATV tour, one of the coolest ATV tours Oahu has! This is yet another Jurassic Park tour, taking you to many different movie filming locations through the valley. And because ATVs can go places other transportation cannot, youll get to go off the beaten path a bit more in this tour.
Want to do more than just ATV? The ATV + Jungle Expedition + Ocean Voyage package is incredibly highly recommended! .

Trevor Morgan, Michael Jeter, John Diehl, Bruce A Young, Laura Dern, Mark Harelik. Jurassic Park III location: young Eric Kirby is taken parasailing at Isla Sorna: Molokai coast, Hawaii. Jurassic Park was the original and The Lost World allowed T-Rex to run amok on the mainland, but Jurassic Park 3 lacks the Spielberg touch and doesnt.

Hunting For Blue In The He’eia Jungle
In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Owen Grady sets off into the abandoned park in order to find his pet velociraptor, Blue. After finding her, they are ambushed by hunters and Blue gets captured. Owen is knocked out and has to drag himself to safety and lava streams beside him. This dense location was filmed on the island of Oahu in the He’eia Jungle. It can be enjoyed by visitors although it’s a bit of a hike.

Kualoa Ranch Secret Island Oahu
As mentioned above, one of my favorite beaches on Oahu is Secret Island beach Kualoa Ranch! Its the perfect place to spend a day away from the craziness of Waikiki or Lanikai. You can visit from 9am to 12pm, 11:30am to 2pm, or all day.
Why pay to go to a beach when you can go to others for free? First, its secluded. You cant just show up here. You have to take a boat across the fishpond and to get to the boat you must have access to private property .
Second, its filled with any beach activity you could ever want! Kayaking, canoeing, SUP, beach volleyball, you name it. The hardest thing about visiting Secret Island is deciding whether to lay on the beach, on a lounge chair, or in a hammock.
Its also great if you dont want to be at the beach stressed constantly about your stuff getting stolen . It is of course still possible here, but because youre with a group of people on a tour and theres no access to the general public the odds are much smaller.
And dont forget your dinosaur bikini, of course! My current favorite options:
How To Book Tickets At Kualoa Ranch
Book your activities for early in the day as it gets muchhotter and busier throughout the day as the tour buses start arriving.
You can book your tours here.
Kualoa Ranch prides themselves on their low guide to guest ratio ensuring that you are well cared for during your adventures. We found the staff to all be very friendly and helpful before and after booking our activities.
If you plan to purchase several activities around Oahu, you might find that the Go Oahu card is the best bang for your buck. Note, that the Go Oahu card does offer several Kualoa Ranch activities on the pass, however, you can only do one per day. Once you receive your card, call Kualoa Ranch directly to reserve your time slots with your Go Oahu card number. The Go Oahu card does not ensure availability for the activity if you forget to make a reservation.
Our family did choose to purchase the Go Oahu card, but as we had a rental car and did not need tours for every day of our trip, we chose the Build Your Own option, which was perfect for us and saved us 20%. This gave us the flexibility to save money on a few excursions, but also to take our rental car around the island and explore on our own for most of our 7 days on Oahu.
Of all of the beauty and adventure that we have experienced on the island of Oahu over multiple trips, our time at the real Jurassic Valley Hawaii at Kualoa Ranch are among our favorites! Id love to hear about which adventure youll be booking next!
