Bryce Dallas Howard: Actresses Arent The Only Ones Who Should Be Asked About Parenting
At the Toronto Film Festival, Bryce Dallas Howard talks about her documentary, Dads, for which she interviewed Ron Howard, Will Smith and Jimmy Kimmel.
Reunited on the set of Dominion, which was shot in 2020 in Canada, the UK and Malta in the early days of the pandemic, Howard was the most meticulous team player you could ask for, said Dern.
She was such an advocate for me, and as a fellow actress thats a beautiful thing to see. Shes always going the extra mile, making sure the crew is safe, said Dern, who was touched when Howard would show up on her days off to offer support and feedback as she filmed scenes. That is, sadly, radically singular. But man, its who Id want to be the leader of the group if I was on a movie.
Even on 2015s Jurassic World, Howard would join director Trevorrow at the monitors something shes loved to do for decades, having grown up in and around the sets of her father, director Ron Howard.
Shes a director at heart, said Trevorrow. She has an eye for any given moment, not just on an emotional level but from a place of craft. Shell often frame it as if shes asking a question and is curious, but Ill always be like, Come on, you know you actually have an opinion. What do you think we should do?
When you originated the character of Claire Dearing in the first Jurassic World, did you have an idea of where you hoped she would end up, two films later?
But what you wanted for her was change.
And pass the Bechdel Test!
Rise To Prominence And Critical Acclaim
In 2007, Howard starred in her first blockbuster film, portraying Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3. Howard described herself as a “huge fan” of the franchise and did extensive research to prepare for the role, including reading comic books and dyeing her hair blonde for the part. Howard performed many of her own stunts while filming, unaware she was a few months into a pregnancy. The film was the highest-grossing installment of the trilogy and received a mixed reception. Howard then starred in Terminator Salvation she replaced Claire Danes in the role of Kate Connor. Howard described her role as “an emotional sounding board” for other characters. The film was a financial success but was not critically well received. The Guardian described Howard’s role as “winsomely” while the New York Times wrote she “upholds the maternal side of the original Sarah Connor legacy”.

Laura Dern Says She Was 23 When She Did Jurassic Park Sam Neill Cant Believe It Either
The internet cannot believe that Laura Dern, who played a leading paleobotanist in Jurassic Park, was only 23 when she did the classic film.
At what point in your life, both watching and participating in storytelling, did you say to yourself, I am an actor, and also a director?
I remember watching my mom in her career. Shes the most educated person in our family and she focused on being a parent and really devoted herself to that. When I was in high school she went back to writing and wrote a novel. Shes real wild and real bright and I remember she was filling out her passport form, and you need to write your occupation. She wrote mother and wife, and I remember being very triggered by that.
She was someone who was that, most certainly. But she was and is such an interesting person, with so many layers, and is so accomplished. Shes done so much. Has an accounting degree. Does all of my parents financials. Soloed an airplane when she was 16 years old. Managed a gun range when she was 18 years old. Got her masters in screenwriting from AFI. She just lives a very full life. And I remember thinking, Youre not just that.
She could have written Renaissance woman on her passport!
Youve directed short films and television. Is directing a narrative feature something that is a priority to you in the near future?
Its really, really, really important to me because theres more to learn. Im attached to Flight of the Navigator, but theres not a script yet.
Chris Pratt Praises Jurassic World’s Bryce Dallas Howard In Sweet Post

On the one month anniversary of Jurassic Word: Dominion’s release, star Chris Pratt recently took to Instagram to honor co-star Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jurassic World‘s Chris Pratt takes to social media to celebrate his co-star Bryce Dallas Howard in a sweet post. Pratt and Howard first joined the Jurassic Park franchise with the 2015 soft reboot, Jurassic World. Despite mixed reviews, the film proved immensely popular with audiences with Jurassic World pulling in over $1.6 billion at the box office. It’s totals made the film the second-highest-grossing film in 2015 behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the seventh highest-grossing film of all-time . As a result of its financial success, Universal Pictures expanded the franchise with two animated series, video games, and two direct Jurassic World sequels.
Pratt and Howard returned to their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018, and subsequently Jurassic World Dominion, the final film in the saga that began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. The latest film brought the lead actors of the original film and the lead actors of the Jurassic World franchise together in one final sendoff to the franchise. Jurassic World: Dominion Star Bryce Dallas Howard Reveals Gruesome Bruises From Stuntwork
Ouch!!!
Bryce Dallas Howard has of the bruises she’s garnered while shooting Jurassic World: Dominion in London and they are gruesome.
“Raise your hands if you’re happy to be doing stunts again!!” wrote Howard, who plays the character of Claire Dearing in the franchise.
The actress was prompted to post the images by costar Chris Pratt who, when retweeting an image posted by Howard of the two actors on set, wrote, “Show them the pictures of the bruises!!! Show them!!!”
Howard confirmed in June that shooting on the Colin Trevorrow-directed film would shortly resume after being halted in March because of the coronavirus.
“What feels really right about it,”Howard said on the EW Live SiriusXM show, “is that there is this daily conversation, daily communication with all of the actors, with the key crew members and just us consistently being like, ‘Okay, how are we going to do this? How are we going to do this safely? and not making compromises that could undermine someones health.”
The cast of Dominion also features the return of franchise veterans Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

Bryce Dallas Howard Should Return For Jurassic World 4
Dominion seemingly marked the end of Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire, but the actor should still be a significant part of the next Jurassic Park movie.
Jurassic World Dominion may seem like a fitting end for Claire Dearing in the Jurassic Park series, but Bryce Dallas Howard should return for a potential Jurassic World 4. Claire is one of the central characters of the Jurassic World trilogy, alongside the Velociraptor expert Owen Grady . Dominion‘s happy ending gave closure to the couple’s story, so if Jurassic World 4 is produced, it’s unlikely that either character would appear. But that doesn’t need to be the end of Bryce Dallas Howard’s involvement in the popular franchise.
The box office success of Jurassic World Dominion suggests that a sequel is almost inevitable. Ticket sales of Dominion are close to $750 million worldwide, which means that so far in 2022 only Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have made more at the box office. Jurassic World Dominion‘s financial success comes in spite of the movie’s bad reviews, proving that the dinosaur franchise is still a huge hit with theatergoers globally. The reviews should not be ignored though, and if Jurassic Park wants to continue its successful legacy then Jurassic World 4 will need to be handled carefully.

Still, Howard says that this decision was a character choice and she defends it. The actor also says that she felt empowered every moment while working on Jurassic World with director Colin Trevorrow.
To DeWandas point, it has everything to do with what the experience is like while youre making the movie and how either empowered or disempowered you feel, Howard shares I always felt empowered, every single minute of Jurassic, by Colin Trevorrow. And that experience, no comment or observation or analysis can ever take that away from me.
Howards character has evolved as the movies have continued and she no longer runs from dinos in heels. However, Howard should be commended for her ability to sprint while wearing these shoes.

Jurassic World: Bryce Dallas Howard Responds To High Heels Criticisms
Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard has spoken out again about the controversy over her character’s high heels in the dinosaur adventure.
Jurassic World ruled the 2015 summer box office and has grossed well over $1.6 billion globally. The fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise also served as a soft reboot of the series – giving rise to its own trilogy in the process, with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard set to return for the sequel.
Despite its massive success one small detail in the film certainly riled audiences: Bryce Dallas Howard’s character Claire spends the movie outrunning dinosaurs in stilettos. Director Colin Trevorrow actually addressed the issue before – immediately after the arrival of the Jurassic World trailer showing Claire outrunning a T-Rex in her heels. He said that Howard insisted on wearing the heels.
Now Howard has once again addressed this Jurassic World controversy, saying it was a character choice :
“This is someone who’s going to be eaten by a dinosaur… is ill-equipped to be in the jungle. This person does not belong in the jungle. From a logical standpoint, I dont think she would take off her heels. I dont think she would choose to be barefoot. I dont think she would run faster barefoot in the jungle with vines and stones.”
Beyond it being relevant to the character, she also considers the decision purely practical as she herself feels better in shoes:
The Heels Mean Something Deeper For Claire’s Journey
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the release of the second film in the trilogy, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Bryce Dallas Howard admitted that she was surprised by how vocal fans were. Neither she nor those working on the first “Jurassic World” were ready for the amount of noise made regarding the shoes she wears.
Howard, who shared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” that she even trained to run in heels for the film, made it clear that Claire’s choice of footwear was intentional. “The takeaway from ‘Jurassic World’ is not, at all times, be ready to run from a dinosaur,” she said in an interview with Hello Giggles. “The takeaway is that she could outrun a T-Rex in high heels, how badass is she? And so of course she’s going to wear heels to the office … I felt really selfrighteous about , that’s what it was.”
Even director Colin Trevorrow, who made it known on that the sequel would have her in more appropriate running shoes, tried to change her mind about the decision but understood what it meant for Howard’s shaping of the character. “She insisted on wearing those heels,” he said in an interview with Gizmodo. “They meant something to her personally. … those heels were her shield in a certain way as a woman. That’s just how she felt. She felt like surrendering the heels felt like surrendering the femininity of the character.”
