Jurassic Park Ride Best At Universal
We went to every attraction in the park, this ride was by far the best! Bring a towel and know you’ll get really wet! We didn’t mind as it was 105 degrees the day we went?

If you have been to the one in Florida, dont bother going to this one in LA. Its nice but very small. Its also more for kids, differently than the Florida one.You can see everything and go to all the attractions in half a day.
Something for all ages and tastes. A ‘must see’ attraction. For me, the best of all was the ‘Transformers’ ride……it was just INCREDIBLE!! Worth a visit for that alone.
Thank you for your review of Universal Studios Hollywood. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed Transformers The Ride 3D. We look forward to welcoming you back to our park. Warm regards,

A Guide To All Things Jurassic Park At Universal Studios
Jurassic World: Dominion is finally here, but the theaters aren’t the only place where you can get your fix for all things Jurassic. While the park might be long gone in the film series, there are still dinosaur-inhabited theme parks here in the real world, at Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood.
Jurassic World: Dominion is the sixth movie in the hugely popular Jurassic Park franchise, which finds dinosaur populations causing huge problems across North America, following the events in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom , in which the prehistoric beasts are released into the wilderness during the third act.
The film unites Jurassic World characters Claire Dearing and Owen Grady with original Jurassic Park characters Dr. Alan Grant , Dr. Ellie Sattler , and Dr. Ian Malcolm , as they face new and unprecedented prehistoric threats on the mainland.
The original Jurassic Park was a hugely influential film, in that not only has it spawned five sequels, but it also inspired themed attractions at Universal Studios, which remain incredibly popular to this day. Sure, you won’t find actual genetically-engineered dinosaurs at the resorts, but you will encounter the next best thing.

Jurassic Park River Adventure

Many Jurassic Park fans don’t know this, but Jurassic Park River Adventure is based on a scene from Michael Crichton’s 1990 best-seller “Jurassic Park”, the novel upon which Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic is based. The scene in question never made it to the film, but now survives in the form of this thrilling log flume ride.
In the book, Dr. Alan Grant, Lex Murphy, and Tim Murphy attempt to reach the visitor center using an inflatable boat, during which they’re stalked by the tyrannosaurus rex. In the Universal Studios Orlando version, however, you’ll see all sorts of dinosaurs, including brachiosaurs, stegosaurs, compys, parasaurs, and velociraptors.
After starting out in your raft with fellow guests, you’ll pass through the watery haven of Hadrosaur Cove, but it won’t belong before things go awry. Soon, you’ll encounter compys and raptors, before your raft enters a dark facility, where you’ll face the wrath of the mighty t-rex, before plunging down a 85-foot drop!
And now for Universal Studios Hollywood…

The ultimate chance to Ride the MoviesJurassic Park: The Ride started out as a book by Michael Crichton. It became a movie, featuring a theme park called Jurassic Park.Planning for the ride began even before the movie was released.Due to the theme park basis for the book, Jurassic Park / Jurassic World was always going to be the most faithful translation of movie to theme park ride ever.
The ride closed in February 2020 for refurbishments / improvements.
For the moment, the bulk of the rest of this page relates to the Jurassic Park River Adventure
The Jurassic Park River Adventure first set sail Summer 1996 at a cost of $110 million. It remains the most expensive amusement ride of all time, and actually cost twice as much as Jurassic Park the movie.Design and development work on the ride first began in November 1990 six years before the ride was opened, and incredibly over three years before the movie Jurassic Park was released . Landmark Entertainment started work on the project in early 1991. Although a River ride features in the book Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, it was cut from the film during production. By this point, the decision had been taken to use a water-based ride at Universal Studios, so it went ahead, and the River Adventure had to wait until the third movie in the series.
Welcome To The World Of The Dinosaurs
Considered one of Universals largest endeavors, Jurassic ParkThe Ride is one of the largest attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood. Combining the best of Universal Creative and Universal Pictures, Jurassic Park embodies the very essence of the slogan bringing movies to life.
If youve read the book or even seen the movie, you probably already know where this ride is going. If you havent, picture this: youve just ventured in John Hammonds theme park and youre boarding a relatively calm and peaceful boat to tour Jurassic Park. Every assurance has been made to ensure your safety, so youre all well and good.
Think of this attraction as a rougher, more unhinged version of Disneys famous Jungle Cruise but with dinosaurs, and youre all set. But of course, this being Jurassic Park, things go horribly wrong.

Jurassic Cafe And Isla Nu
After riding Jurassic WorldThe Ride, dont forget to check out Jurassic Café or grab a tiki cocktail at the Isla Nu-bar. During my last visit, I had a delicious Tropical Roasted Chicken Salad. It had Iceberg lettuce, shredded cabbage, avocado, house-made citrus vinaigrette, garnished with pomegranate seeds and queso fresco.
I also ordered a tasty Bird of Paradise Cocktail at Isla Nu-bar. I asked for it in a souvenir tiki cup that I proudly display on my bar cart at home. Then of course, I decided to go on the ride again!

Jurassic Park: The Ride is a water-based amusement ride based on the Steven Spielberg 1993 film Jurassic Park and Michael Crichton‘s 1990 located at Universal Orlando‘s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida and Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Japan. It was formerly located at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, California, where it was turned into Jurassic World: The Ride.
The ride was researched and built as the film was still in production and opened at Universal Studios Hollywood on June 21, 1996. Duplicates of the ride have since been built at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Japan as Jurassic Park River Adventure. A river rapids ride version, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, opened at Universal Studios Singapore in 2010.
The First Studio Tour
In 1914, German American immigrant Carl Laemmle bought the Taylor Ranch in the San Fernando Valley and founded Universal City as a gigantic studio with a zoo, its own police and mayor and native Americans living on the premises. On March 14, 1915, Laemmle opened Universal Studios in a two-day grand opening event with 10,000 attendees. He later invited the general public to see all the action for an admission fee of just five cents, which also included a boxed lunch with chicken. There was also a chance to buy fresh produce, since then-rural Universal City was still in part a working farm. This original tour was discontinued around 1930, due to the advent of sound films and the stages being not sufficiently soundproofed.

Differences To Florida Universal’s Jurassic Park River Adventure
- Both Universal’s Islands Of Adventure and Universal Studios Hollywood have two raptors, but appear in two different ways. The ones at Hollywood appeared from the wiring and ceiling while in Orlando one appears from a cage to the left and another appears from a security chamber.
- In Orlando, the second raptor is followed by three giant claw marks that appear on the right hand wall.
- In the Hollywood version two Dilophosaurus appeared at the right and left hand sides of the riders before they entered the pump station. While in the Universal’s Islands of Adventure version there are three which pop up before the T. rex appears in front of the riders.
- The Hollywood version featured two Ultrasaurs when guests entered the gates.
- This version features the large Tyrannosaurus head before the guest reaches the end, which roars and shakes above the riders.
- Two Compsognathus show up before the Raptor Containment Area shows up, they were seen fighting over a popcorn bucket, while the ones in Orlando fight over a warden’s shirt on CP-25 inside of the Containment Area.
- In Orlando, there are only two Psittacosauruses instead of three.
- General dinosaur color scheme and aesthetic differences.
