Differences To Florida Universal’s Jurassic Park River Adventure
- Both Universal’s Islands Of Adventure and Universal Studios Hollywood have two raptors, but appear in two different ways. The ones at Hollywood appeared from the wiring and ceiling while in Orlando one appears from a cage to the left and another appears from a security chamber.
- In Orlando, the second raptor is followed by three giant claw marks that appear on the right hand wall.
- In the Hollywood version two Dilophosaurus appeared at the right and left hand sides of the riders before they entered the pump station. While in the Universal’s Islands of Adventure version there are three which pop up before the T. rex appears in front of the riders.
- The Hollywood version featured two Ultrasaurs when guests entered the gates.
- This version features the large Tyrannosaurus head before the guest reaches the end, which roars and shakes above the riders.
- Two Compsognathus show up before the Raptor Containment Area shows up, they were seen fighting over a popcorn bucket, while the ones in Orlando fight over a warden’s shirt on CP-25 inside of the Containment Area.
- In Orlando, there are only two Psittacosauruses instead of three.
- General dinosaur color scheme and aesthetic differences.

Jurassic Park Oi Fun Facts
Jurassic Park: The Ride first opened in Universal Studios Hollywood in 1996 before it was brought to Islands of Adventure in 1999 as an opening-day attraction, sporting a new name . The ride takes its inspiration from a scene in the first Jurassic Park novel, where Dr. Alan Grant, Tim, and Lexi escape from the rampaging dinos on a river raft.
After a 10-month closure over in California, Universal reopened the attraction in 2019 as Jurassic World: The Ride, with new animatronics and special effects based on the Jurassic World movies. Universal Orlando Resort itself has slowly been getting in on the World game, as well, first with Raptor Encounter and, now, with the still-under-construction Jurassic World VelociCoaster.

A Guide To All Things Jurassic Park At Universal Studios
Jurassic World: Dominion is finally here, but the theaters aren’t the only place where you can get your fix for all things Jurassic. While the park might be long gone in the film series, there are still dinosaur-inhabited theme parks here in the real world, at Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood.
Jurassic World: Dominion is the sixth movie in the hugely popular Jurassic Park franchise, which finds dinosaur populations causing huge problems across North America, following the events in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom , in which the prehistoric beasts are released into the wilderness during the third act.
The film unites Jurassic World characters Claire Dearing and Owen Grady with original Jurassic Park characters Dr. Alan Grant , Dr. Ellie Sattler , and Dr. Ian Malcolm , as they face new and unprecedented prehistoric threats on the mainland.
The original Jurassic Park was a hugely influential film, in that not only has it spawned five sequels, but it also inspired themed attractions at Universal Studios, which remain incredibly popular to this day. Sure, you won’t find actual genetically-engineered dinosaurs at the resorts, but you will encounter the next best thing.

Tips and Tricks: Many guests have said this is one of the scariest rides at Universal Orlando, not only for the dementors and the Forbidden Forest, but for the extreme motion sickness that can come with it. There are moments in this ride where guests are almost suspended upside-down and it can get pretty rough out there! There is no better theming of Hogwarts Castle than inside the queue, so we definitely suggest taking a stroll to see Dumbledores Office, The Gryffindor Common Room and more!

We went to every attraction in the park, this ride was by far the best! Bring a towel and know you’ll get really wet! We didn’t mind as it was 105 degrees the day we went?

If you have been to the one in Florida, dont bother going to this one in LA. Its nice but very small. Its also more for kids, differently than the Florida one.You can see everything and go to all the attractions in half a day.
Something for all ages and tastes. A ‘must see’ attraction. For me, the best of all was the ‘Transformers’ ride……it was just INCREDIBLE!! Worth a visit for that alone.
Thank you for your review of Universal Studios Hollywood. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed Transformers The Ride 3D. We look forward to welcoming you back to our park. Warm regards,

The ultimate chance to Ride the MoviesJurassic Park: The Ride started out as a book by Michael Crichton. It became a movie, featuring a theme park called Jurassic Park.Planning for the ride began even before the movie was released.Due to the theme park basis for the book, Jurassic Park / Jurassic World was always going to be the most faithful translation of movie to theme park ride ever.
The ride closed in February 2020 for refurbishments / improvements.
For the moment, the bulk of the rest of this page relates to the Jurassic Park River Adventure
The Jurassic Park River Adventure first set sail Summer 1996 at a cost of $110 million. It remains the most expensive amusement ride of all time, and actually cost twice as much as Jurassic Park the movie.Design and development work on the ride first began in November 1990 six years before the ride was opened, and incredibly over three years before the movie Jurassic Park was released . Landmark Entertainment started work on the project in early 1991. Although a River ride features in the book Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, it was cut from the film during production. By this point, the decision had been taken to use a water-based ride at Universal Studios, so it went ahead, and the River Adventure had to wait until the third movie in the series.

Head To Jurassic Park
As you start your day at Loews Royal Pacific, you can grab a quick bite to eat at Tuk Tuk Market before taking the Water Taxi over to CityWalk. Once youre at CityWalk, youll want to head toward Islands of Adventure and then make a right when you enter the park. Heading right is pretty crucial to the day as it will give you that ultimate Jurassic Park entrance. You can get to Jurassic Park by going right or left in Islands of Adventure, but I prefer right. I dont know if its just me, but the music always starts to swell as I step through the archway. You cant help but to hum along to the song.
Play In Camp Jurassic
Across from Jurassic Park River Adventure is Camp Jurassic. This is a perfect place to take the little ones who have a lot of energy. It is a mult-level, prehistoric playground with dark caves, amber mines, climb dinosaur-capture nets, and swaying suspension bridges. Listen close for the roar of dinosaurs!
This is also home to an exclusive attraction at Universal Orlando Resort called Pteranodon Flyers. This ride is perfect for the little ones as they soar high above Jurassic Park on a slow moving ride. The kids are buckled in and lifted up in the air with their feet dangling as they smoothly glide over Jurassic Park. For this two-seater ride, an adult must ride behind with a child so if you arent visiting with a child under 48 inches, you wont be able to ride this attraction. But if youre able to, its an absolute blast. My 4-year-old nephew absolutely loved taking turns with me and my sister as he took in the views of Jurassic Park.
PRO TIP: If you do have little ones who arent tall enough for Jurassic World VelociCoaster or Jurassic Park River Adventure, Id recommend doing your own version of child swap. One adult can take the little ones to Camp Jurassic while the other adults ride Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Jurassic Park River Adventure. Its a great way to let the kids run around and let out some energy.

The 8 Best Jurassic Park Attractions At Universal Studios Parks Past And Present
Universal Studios Parks has had quite a few attractions based on the Jurassic Park franchise, but these 8 are the best.
The Jurassic Park franchise depicts a failed attempt at creating a theme park-type zoo featuring dinosaurs brought back from extinction. However, things go wrong, the dinosaurs escape and wreak havoc, and the theme park creators realize building it was a huge mistake. Released in 1993, the movie grossed over a billion dollars and has become a classic.
Naturally, director Steven Spielberg wanted to bring a ride version to the Universal Studios Theme Park, which seemed inevitable and appropriate since the film already takes place at a theme park. Ever since Jurassic Park: The Ride opened in Universal Studios Hollywood in 1996, the film and attraction have continued in popularity, which has prompted the construction of more rides based on the film throughout Universal’s parks around the world, which allow guests to live the thrilling classic film.
