When we see the bones of dinosaurs, we can be reminded that death was not a part of the original creation. Death is actually an intruder, entering when the first man disobeyed God. The Bible tells us that because we are all descendants of Adam, we too have sinned: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God . We need to recognize that the wickedness in the world is because of sin, because man rebelled against God.

The Genesis account is also silent about all kinds of creatures, especially if we consider the specific species or life forms falling under the larger categories listed in the Biblical record.. Many Christians believe the Bible describes a perfect world before Adams sin a world in which nothing dies.. Romans 5:12-14 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned- for before the law was given, sin was in the world.. In this particular verse, Paul is saying spiritual and physical death came to mankind as a result of the sin of Adam.. The Genesis 1 passage seems to be saying God gave plants to the animals to be eaten for food prior to the fall of Adam.. It simply says plants exist as part of creation to serve as food for the animals created next.. I think it is hard for some of us to imagine God would design any kind of death into His created world, especially the world of Adam and Eve prior to the fall.. We have so many issues with children and adults interpreting the Bible literally! I am often unsure how to answer them because I dont want to think that the Bible is just stories! Its so tricky. So I am writing to you for some advice. Our latest question comes from an 8th grade student in our Catholic school but its been asked before by some of our younger students too! The question is: how do dinosaurs fit into the creation story? I would like to have your perspective on how to answer this question for middle school, elementary school and adults. I talked with the 8th grade religion teacher and tried to explain what you said in your book and I also copied the information on Biblical inerrancy from the Finding God website. I would appreciate any help you can give me!

This question is one of the most intriguing and numerous ones that Im asked these days. Fitting dinosaurs into the Bible is a daunting taskmainly becausethey dont fit!
The Bible is absolutely silent about the subject of dinosaurs. The Bible is a religious book that deals with theology . Its purpose is to reveal to us the nature, personality and character of God. The main message of the Bible is not that the good peopleand not the bad peopleget to go to Heaven. The message of the Bible is that no one is good enough for Gods perfect Heaven, Therefore, Jesus died on the cross as our substitute to pay the penalty for our sin, and by faith in Him, we have our sins forgiven and are now fit to live in Gods Heaven.
Nevertheless, I understand the assumption behind the question about dinosaurs. Those who interpret the Genesis One creation story as an ordered-scientific account of the creation want to know where dinosaurs fit into the story. Based on this interpretation, all astrological, geological, anthropological, archeological, and biological disciplines must fit into the framework of a literal-six-day, twenty-four-hour creation occurring just 6,000 years ago. In recorded history, which begins about 6,000 years ago there is no mention of dinosaurs on the earth. Frankly, from a scientific point of view, it is hard to cram dinosaurs into a 6,000-year-frame work.

The sudden extinction of the dinosaurs, as shown by the geological record, is a mystery that evolutionary paleontologists have considerable difficulty explaining. No. Although these animals mentioned in the book of Job cannot be identified with certainty, Behemoth is generally identified as the hippopotamus and Leviathan as the crocodile. These identifications match the descriptions of them given in the Scriptures. In any case, the terms Behemoth and Leviathan cannot refer to dinosaurs.
