Dinosaur Theme Park Coming To Upstate New York
It looks like Upstate New York is expanding in terms of theme parks. First, were getting a LEGOLAND in Goshen and next up, a dinosaur themed park.
According to New York Upstate, Neil Gold, a real estate investor and developer from New JerseyAfter taking his grandson to a dinosaur theme park elsewhere, he started making plans for one in the town of Wallkill, NY.
The new park was proposed by Orange County Dinosaur Park, LLC who also has parks in New Jersey as well as Kansas. Based on the other parks, you can expect live shows, dinosaur wranglers, scenic trails, over 30 animatronic dinosaurs, and the chance to get face to face with a T-Rex.
Nothing is officially written in stone yet but theyre hoping for both animatronic and static replica dinosaurs, a train around the park to view dinosaur vignettes, a fossil dig area, playgrounds, and more. The park will be about 10 miles from the soon-to-be open LEGOLAND New York and take up about 137 acres. Obviously, its still in the beginning planning stages and we cant expect it open any time soon but its cool to see another place for dinosaur lovers to visit outside of Dino Roar Valley in Lake George.

Upstate Ny Dinosaur Theme Park Proposed Near New Legoland Ny
As Upstate New York awaits the opening of the new LEGOLAND New York Resort, another theme park proposal has been submitted for a prehistorical playland called Dinosaur Kingdom.
According to the Times Herald-Record, the idea came from Neil Gold, a real estate investor and developer from New Jersey. After taking his grandson to a dinosaur theme park elsewhere, he started making plans for one in the town of Wallkill, NY.
Real Estate In-Depth writes that the project is proposed by Orange County Dinosaur Park, LLC, which operates other dinosaur theme parks like Field Station Dinosaurs in New Jersey and Kansas. The existing park in New Jersey features live shows, dinosaur wranglers, scenic trails, over 30 animatronic dinosaurs, and the chance to get face to face with a T-Rex.
The Times Herald-Record reports early plans for the proposed Hudson Valley park feature both animatronic and static replica dinosaurs, a train around the park to view dinosaur vignettes, a fossil dig area, playgrounds, and more. Gold hopes for the park to be just as educational as it is entertaining, making it an ideal spot for school field trips as well as families.
Town of Wallkill Supervisor Frank DenDanto said final design plans have been submitted and hopes that the early support from the Town Board will continue to bring this idea to fruition without issue. If the proposal is passed, an opening date would still be a ways away.

New Art Installation Features Dinosaurs Running Wild On Park Avenue
NEW YORK — For more than 50 years, “Art in the Parks” has made New York City one of the country’s largest open air galleries, and a new installation is turning heads on Park Avenue.
“Rexor the T. rex” is just one of the oddly shaped animals dotting one of the ritziest avenues in the city.
“They’re like really nice to look at because everywhere you look, like, at a different angle, it changes the shape of it a little bit,” one woman said.
It’s an installation sponsored by the Patrons of Park Avenue, highlighting the work of French-Tunisian artist Idriss B.
“People walk by, they don’t even blink, right? Like this is normal. But I love it. We need that,” one man said.
“I already took three pictures to send to my daughter in San Francisco, you know, just to see what she’s missing,” another man said.
What she’s missing is everything from “Manny the Mammoth,” to “Dundee the Crocodile,” to the star of the show, Rexor.
“Well, you know, it’s for my nephew. He’s 5, so he thinks it’s amazing. I’m gonna tell him it’s chasing me down Park Avenue,” said one woman who was taking pictures.
It’s also adding to the culture-rich environment for true art aficionados.
“It’s like a metaphor for the vitality in the spirit, you know? You got your teeth bared. You’re ready to conquer the world,” one man said.
“That’s deep. I usually wouldn’t associated a T. rex with love. Especially one bearing in its teeth,” Overmyer said.

Go On Your Own Dino Scavenger Hunt
Dinosaurs stopped being a thing 65 million years ago, but were still obsessed with the scaly, feathery galoots. The tri-state area is smack in the middle of a fossil-rich region that stretches from Canada to the Carolinas. And New Jersey became ground zero for our fascination with dinosaurs when the first nearly complete skeleton, a Hadrosaurus, was discovered there in 1858.
So the New York City area offers countless opportunities to see dinosaurs in fossil form and in life-size recreations. Here are just a few of our favorites.
Hail To The King At The Museum Of Natural History
Naturally, the worlds foremost fossil museum comes first. The American Museum of Natural Historyknown to paleontologists as simply The American Museumblazed the trail of dinosaur hunting in the 19th and 20th centuries. It helped that the American West was the home of the greatest, most famous dinosaur that ever lived. And through August 2020, that dinosaur holds court in a special exhibit befitting its majesty: Tyrannosaurus Rex: The Ultimate Predator. Weve already highlighted this incredible close-up look at T. rex, so you have no excuse not to go say hi!

Come Travel Back To The Age Of Dinosaurs
We are one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America. Beneath our geodesic dome, you will find an exceptional display of early Jurassic fossil tracks that were made 200 million years ago.
Surrounding our Exhibit Center are more than two miles of nature trails and the Dinosaur State Park Arboretum, containing more than 250 species and cultivars of conifers, as well as katsuras, ginkgoes, magnolias and other living representatives of plant families which appeared in the Age of Dinosaurs.
Our Museum presents a birds-eye view of the preserved Mesozoic floodplain covered with tracks, dioramas of Triassic and Jurassic environments, collections of fossils, and interactive exhibits.
Dilophosaurus is the dinosaur believed to have made the tracks that are on display in the Exhibit Center. The first large carnivorous dinosaurs appeared in the early Jurassic. The Eubrontes tracks, which are the most abundant large fossil track found in the central valley of Connecticut, are attributed to an 18 to 20-foot long predator. This ceratosaur quite likely was related to Dilophosaurus.
More than two miles of trails at Dinosaur State Park cover a variety of habitats, including a red maple swamp and shrub swamp and meadows. The forest area has sugar maple, birch, hickory, oak and beech trees. A traprock ridge reveals broken pieces of basaltic rock that once flowed as hot lava covering the habitat of Connecticut’s dinosaurs.

What are people saying about dinosaur park in New York, NY?
This is a review for dinosaur park in New York, NY:
“Dinosaur Playground is a good place for me to use the restroom. I’ve been here before over the years but I wasn’t reviewing playgrounds at that time. It’s a pretty old playground that lots of people still enjoy. The bathroom was flooded today but when I gotta go it’s a blessing! I’m at least giving this playground three stars. There’s toilet paper! I would bring my child as the play area is clean and free of vagrants. And most importantly there’s a bathroom!! There’s lots of benches if you want a quiet place to sit and rest.”

- Flooding in South Asia: Amid a relentless monsoon season, deadly floods have devastated Pakistan and inundated Bengaluru, Indias Silicon Valley.
Tracks being buried under layers of sediment do help protect them from natural weathering and erosion, Ms. Garcia said.
Other tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park belong to a sauropod, or long-necked, small-headed dinosaur, called Sauroposeidon proteles. This species would have stood 60 feet tall and weighed 44 tons as an adult.
Louis Jacobs, a vertebrate paleontologist and an emeritus professor of earth sciences at Southern Methodist University, saw the tracks on Saturday. He said these uncovered tracks joined trackways that were already known, and they now add up to about 150 dinosaur steps.
Those footprints theyre spectacular because theyre deep, he said. You can see the toenails. Theres more than one kind, and theres a lot of them.
Mr. Jacobs said the prints signaled there might be more that remained undiscovered. As the river erodes, it will expose more but also erase some others.
Dinosaur tracks collected from the Paluxy River in 1938 are on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Similar tracks have been found in British Columbia and South America, said James Farlow, a vertebrae paleontologist and adjunct biology professor at Purdue University Fort Wayne.
He added, Its a resource that is continually being destroyed but continuously being renewed.
