Are Dogs Allowed At Dinosaur Valley State Park
Yes! Its one of my favorite parks in Texas to visit with my dog Snoopy. We enjoy going for a hike at Dinosaur Valley after looking at the tracks.
Even if you think youre alone hiking with your dog on the north side of the park, keep your dog on a leash at all times. The maximum length of the leash is six feet.
You can swim with your dog in the water, but not near the swimming areas.
Also, remember to collect their trash and dispose of it properly. You may be wondering why I suggested throwing out the trash. Because some people simply bagged their trash and left it for a ranger to collect.
The summer before Covid, there was even a hike with your dog program and a session on basic dog training.
The park store, group pavilion, and headquarters are the only sites where pets are not allowed.

Getting To Dinosaur Valley State Park
Arriving at Dinosaur Valley SP is straightforward and easily mapped. If the weather is not optimal or the rivers are too high or mucky to see the tracks there are other activities in the area to use as fallbacks, such as Dinosaur World and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Or, if you like to look at issues from all sides, the Creation Evidence Museum is conveniently located on the way up FM 205, from Glen Rose.
As with any state park, you will need to stop at the park headquarters to show your pass or pay for entry and/or campsites. Unlike other state parks everyone will want to go inside this headquarters. They have a great mini-museum dedicated to the park that will give you a great preview of the types of tracks you will see and the types of dinosaurs they came from.

Events At Dinosaur Valley State Park

Be sure to check out the Eventsthe Park is hosting while you are there because we happened to go during Christmas in the Valley. This event was great. After we had lunch we headed over to the pavilion near the playgrounds and day use sites to participate. The park rangers were cooking in Dutch Ovens , there were other food and drinks, SMores, and crafts. They supplied everything to make a snow globe, paint an ornament, and make popcorn and cranberry garlands for the birds. It was a great event.
Thankfully, we had a warmer night and after breakfast the next morning we broke camp and headed home. We do a fair amount of camping and found Dinosaur Valley SP to be one of our favorite parks. We hope to come back when it is overall warmer because the kids are desperate to swim in the river!

Skybox Cabins Is A Modern Texas Destination For A Weekend Getaway To Glen Rose

In the clearwater cradle of the Paluxy River, youll find Glen Rose, Texas. The small towns claim to fame is its natural parks, historic downtown, swimming holes only the locals know, and most importantly, dinosaur tracks. Its also where the owners of Skybox Cabins, Yvan and Kristin, chose to build their personal paradisebecause life is too short to defer dreams.
Skybox Cabins is a modern vacation haven camouflaged with rustic trappings, a selection of small, individual treehouse cabins sitting on 50 acres of premier Texas Hill Country. The little resort was meant to be just one cabin, built out of cedar from their own property, nothing more than a country refuge for a family to unwind on the weekends, surrounded by birdsong and Texas sky. Today, the family cares for four cabins, a glamping ground, and a creekside campground.
The property is quiet, trading in city lights for natural-growing live oaks and cedars, and a creekwhen theres rain. Three horses, two cows, a couple of dogs, and a cat freely explore the property, and might drop by for a visit.
Their original cabin is The Birdhouse, built in 2017, and accessible by a second floor bridge. Next came the La Tour, inspired by 17th century French Pigeonniers, and then the Nest, a treehouse/bungalow with a cedar observatory. But their newest cabin is a classic A-frame treehouse called The Hive, which sleeps two. The huge porch hugs the tree trunks, and a hammock cut into the floor invites perfect summer stargazing.
